Well, lookie what we have here.
20th Century Fox has dropped (via Entertainment Weekly) two new teaser posters for "X-Men: Days of Future Past" today, and as it turns out, Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen share more than just a few flirty Prop 8-related chuckles, and though they could not possibly have more different hairstyles, James McAvoy does favor the brow line of his predecessor in Charles Xavier-ness, Patrick Stewart.
As you can see, the new images play upon the fact that there'll be some back-and-forthing between the two generations of Magneto and Professor X — the elders cut from the first two "X" iterations by director Bryan Singer, and the younger pair having been introduced in the '70s-set "X-Men: First Class."
Surprisingly enough, this pair (quartet?) does not take the front seat in all the "Days of Future Past" action; as revealed during the cast showing at Comic-Con, it'll actually be Hugh Jackman's Wolverine character which is sent back in time to un-muck the robotic catastrophe that has become Earth (in movie math terms, it's essentially "Terminator" meets "The Wolverine"). Now you know what to expect with that post-credits scene ...
As for the besties-slash-frenemies poster boys here, well, we'll have to wait and see what they'll be up to 'til more deets start coming down on the sci-fi sequel. In the meantime, these posters do seem to offer plenty to chew on in the way of visuals. Who knew the pairs could mesh so well?
"X-Men: Days of Future Past," which also features Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry, Evan Peters, James Marsden, Daniel Cudmore, Sean Ashmore, Lucas Till, Omar Sy, Josh Helman, Booboo Stewart and even Bingbing Fan (what a line-up!), hits theaters on May 23, 2014.
