'White House Down': Active Military and Veterans Offered Free Tickets July 4th

Mythology Entertainment Mythology Entertainment

This Fourth of July, while you're out in the heat sippin' on those patriotic cocktails and wolfing down these foodporn-worthy treats (you're welcome), some of our country's servicemen will be engaging in a much cooler activity indoors — namely, enjoying (too strong?) Roland Emmerich's latest action flick, "White House Down".

On Thursday, active military personnel and veterans (and their plus ones) will be granted free admission to the film at any Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Theaters, Cinemark Theaters or Carmike Cinemas theater — simply by showing proper military identification.

This announcement is especially fitting considering the movie's storyline. Apart from just blowing s**t up, Emmerich's film touches upon patriotism, government, the military, and everything related to the good ol' US of A. Channing Tatum's John Cale is a D.C. cop who must save the president (Jamie Foxx), his daughter (Joey King), and basically the rest of America after the White House is overtaken by terrorists.

In what he calls "the summer's best action movie," Sony Pictures' Worldwide Distribution prez Rory Bruer comments that "White House Down" is the perfect film to "celebrate the holiday and to honor and thank the troops for their service to our country." The promotion is valid only on the Fourth of July with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis at participating locations.

"White House Down" opened in theaters June 28. Check out our full coverage of the film, including the latest news and exclusive interviews with the cast (you know you want to).
