Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig have been getting just about all of the hype from this summer's surprise blockbuster "Bridesmaids" -- and for good reason, because they're both totally awesome -- but the rest of the cast was pretty doggone sharp as well. Which is why we're so happy about the latest news: According to Variety, Wendi McLendon-Covey has just landed the lead role in the upcoming indie comedy "A White Trash Christmas."

Trash has never sounded so good.

Though Wendi is probably the most famous McLendon-Covey in the world, she's still not exactly a household name, so here's a quick refresher: Best known for her role as Deputy Clementine Johnson on "Reno 911!," McLendon-Covey has spent most of her career bouncing around sitcoms and low-budget indies. That, however, was before she nailed her "Bridesmaids" breakout role as Rita, the mother of three who gets most of her parenting skills from the bottom of a whiskey tumbler.

And the booze is going to keep on flowing in "A White Trash Christmas." Billed as a modern, humorous take on the classic Charles Dickens holiday tale "A Christmas Carol," "A White Trash Christmas" tells the story of "whiskey-soaked, trashy mother" who "is visited by three ghosts who try to show her a path to a brighter future."

They should probably just save their breath, though. For McLendon-Covey, that brighter future is clearly already here.
