Vin Diesel Drops 'Fast & Furious 7' Filming Hint

There've been murmurs of Universal Pictures' plans for a seventh installment to the "Fast & Furious" franchise for a couple of years now, but it looks like Vin Diesel was much too eager for the hot rod cat to be pulled out of the garage bag this weekend to hold the secret in any longer.

Via Facebook, he announced Saturday (so no April Fool's Day joke involved here) in no unclear terms that the sequel has indeed been greenlit, that a shooting location has been narrowed and that a production schedule is now in place for the flick.

Clearly, Vin Diesel's vocabulary doesn't include the term "embargo."

"There was an early screening in LA this week of Fast 6," he wrote to caption a curious photo of himself apparently reading to a toddler on a couch. "The crowd reaction was surreal... and their demand for the continuation was powerful... It's remarkable to think I first embodied this character in 1999... and the evolution continues. P.s. Filming begins this summer in LA, where it all started... talk about a studio in sync with the audience..."

With "Fast & Furious 6" poised for another nine digit run at the box office this May, it's no surprise the studio wants to make this a septet, but it is interesting that the studio's opting for a Hollywood-based shoot. They were originally eyeing European locales for production on both "Fast & Furious 6" and the eventual follow-up, and indeed part six was primarily shot in the U.K. and Spain.
