'Transformers 4' Gets Dinobot-Suggestive Poster and Title

Paramount Pics. Paramount Pics.

Well, Michael Bay did promise "something different" for his fourth "Transformers" go, did he not?

Following some Class A web sleuthery revealing Hasbro's trademark grab for the title "Transformers: Age of Extinction," Paramount Pictures has confirmed that the Darwinian moniker will indeed be the name for Bay's newest explosion-filled installment by way of the film's new poster.

Now, there've been some suspicions about the possible involvement of Dinobots — no need to Google the term if you haven't heard of it before; they're pretty much exactly what they sound like — in the new plot for a while now, but between this and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura's affirmative bean-spillage (he told Beijing News, "you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement"), it's all but confirmed that the prehistoric-looking Transformers'll be wreaking some serious havoc on Chicago and Detroit as a mock Hong Kong.

The Dinobots consist of five main team members: Grimlock the T-Rex, Sludge the Brontosaurus, Slag the Triceratops, Snarl the Stegosaurus and Swoop the Pteroactyl.

The fivesome, featured prominently in the "Transformers" comics, were created by the Autobots but totally turned on Optimus Prime & Co., so we can probably expect them to be some wild, flying, flame-throwing baddies in "Transformers 4."

Bay had said before that the newest installment would not be a reboot but would turn to a "new direction" which he hoped would stay "grounded." So ... dinosaur robots? Why not.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction," which stars Mark WahlbergStanley TucciNicola PeltzKelsey GrammerJack Reynor and T.J. Miller, will either revive or extinguish this series once and for all when it hits theaters on June 27, 2014.
