Ogle Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's Golden Globes Opening

We had some absurdly high expectations for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as co-hosts of the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, and last night our funny girls did not disappoint.

In the span of their seven minute opening monologue, they managed to sneak in a few mildly amusing jokes, a couple of eyebrow-raisers and one real zinger.

Their first real pot shot aimed at themselves when they noted "only at the Golden Globes do the beautiful people of film rub shoulders with the rat-faced people of television," and the ladies also managed a mention of formerGlobes host Ricky Gervais — who notoriously offended nearly everyone in Hollywood but made us normies laugh our friggin' tails off.

"Ricky Gervais [is] technically no longer in show business ... We want to assure you that we have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight because as Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press they make you host two more times," the girls warned.

What followed, though, was the best one-two punch series of jokes this side of, well, Ricky Gervais hosting in 2011.

"I really haven't been following the controversy surrounding 'Zero Dark Thirty,' but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron," Fey aimed and fired at director Kathryn Bigelow, leaving literally everyone in the room with mouths agape. Oooooh snap! Cake effectively taken.

Fey reloaded and cocked another good one in Anne Hathaway's direction next. "Anne Hathaway, you gave a stunning performance in 'Les Miserables.' I have not seen someone so totally alone and abandoned like that since you were on stage with James Franco at the Oscars."

Both victims, we should note, were game for the laughs.

Finally, the ladies gave a mild send-off to Quentin Tarantino — coining him "the star of all my sexual nightmares" — and got the night underway.

Well done, gals. Well done.
