Just when you thought Baz Luhrmann's 3-D film adaptation of "The Great Gatsby" couldn't possibly get any more glam, the powers-that-be add yet another mega-star to the cast.
Though you may not have heard of him, that latest addition to the lineup could possibly be one of the most famous names yet. Amitabh Bachchan has signed on to play Meyer Wolfsheim, the shadowy gambler and troublemaker with a small but significant role.
Bachchan is one arguably the king of Bollywood who has received countless Filmfare Award nominations — India's equivalent to the Academy Awards — and has taken home a whopping 11 of these trophies.
In other words, they really like this guy. (And he will increase the international appeal of the flick, no doubt.)
In case you've been too busy hobnobbing with the rich and famous asleep for the last few months, Luhrmann's take on the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic stars Leonardo Di Caprio in the title role and features Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchannan and Isla Fisher to boot.
Shooting has started in the Luhrmann's native Australia — and the auteur has made sure to surround his cast "360 degrees in the world of the movie," The Huffington Post reports.
Sounds like a good time to us!
