Terry Crews Bringing More 'Idiocracy' to the People

Fox

If you can giggle after someone says "Brawndo's got what plants crave," or "Welcome to Costco, I love you" then you're probably part of the devoted cult of "Idiocracy."

Mike Judge's dark comedy about an average dude (Luke Wilson) waking up 1000-years in the future to find he's the smartest man in the world by a frighteningly wide margin is one of the most brilliant comedies of the recent century, but in 2005 it was unceremoniously dumped in theaters and destined for DVD oblivion.

But hold on! According to Movieline, Judge and co-star Terry Crews, a.k.a. President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho, have a three-point plan to fix everything.

"Me and Mike [Judge] are talking right now with Fox about some Camacho stuff," said Crews. "We literally met with Fox a week ago. It’s so cool. We’re going to see what it becomes, but we got approval from Fox to do some stuff. We’re going to start off on the internet and do some small interstitials with Camacho."

Perhaps the movie's most memorable character, the five-time Ultimate Smackdown champion, porn superstar, and President of the United States was not only a hilarious, drunken, machine-gun toting buffoon, Camacho was a not-so-subtle satire of where politics is heading. After all, we elected an Austrian bodybuilder as Governor of Culi-foin-ia… er, California.

Although "The Naked Gun" was based on a failed TV show ("Police Squad"), and "Machete" was a fake trailer in the box-office bomb "Grindhouse," we can't remember a movie failing as badly as "Idiocracy" (less than $500,000 dollars at the box-office) and getting any kind of follow-up.

"Expendables 2" star Crews has been adamant for years that Camacho is his favorite character, and if getting to revisit him in tiny, internet-sized nuggets can eventually bring us a full-on theatrical spin-off then let us sing Hail to the Chief!
