'Star Wars' Is Going All 'Avengers' On Us and More Rumors

LucasFilm

While all media eyes are squarely focused on who will be chosen to direct Disney's "Star Wars Episode VII: Space Mountain" (or whatever it's called), that search for talent may cover more territory than previously thought.

Newly-minted president of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy was interviewed for a recent "Star Wars"-centric edition of Entertainment Weekly (via Kotaku), where it confirms that she recently told employees that she wants the company churning out two or three flicks per year.

Now whether that entails two or three "Star Wars" movies is anyone's guess, although we could certainly see Kennedy trying to ape the Marvel model by releasing films focused on single characters that tie into the wider fabric of the universe (a Boba Fett adventure was outed as a possibility by Joe Johnston to Screenrant last year). In all likelihood, though, it's going to mean other movies including their animated musical about fairies and yet another Indiana Jones adventure. Still no official word on "Red Tails 2: Heads You Live, Tails You Die."

On another rumor front, "Thor" actor/fangirl heartthrob Tom Hiddleston was interviewed by Digital Spy when he announced he was totally game to board the "Star Wars" sequels and pilot the Millennium Falcon should he be given the keys.

"Absolutely, yeah. I'm a huge fan, especially the first three," said Hiddleston. "It would depend on the story and the character and things. But I don't know, maybe people would associate me too closely with Loki — I hope not."

He went on to praise Kennedy (seen here desecrating the Indiana Jones legacy with a bloated George Lucas and apathetic Harrison Ford), whom he recently worked with on Steven Spielberg's "War Horse."

"Kathleen Kennedy is a filmmaker of such extraordinary experience and wisdom - she's one of the best producers I've ever worked for," he explained. "She just knows her way around the medium and the art form and the industry, so I think I'd take it very seriously if they asked me."
