Finally, someone actually wants to play with "Oldboy."

After an exhaustive (and exhausting) search, director Spike Lee has finally convinced an actor to commit to the villain role in "Oldboy": Sharlto Copley, according to Deadline. The "District 9" star had been rumored to be circling the part and it looks like it's a done deal.

Spike Lee has had a hell of a time finding someone to play the man who makes Josh Brolin's life a living hell. Previous candidates for the role included Clive Owen (who played the villain in Lee's "Inside Man"), Colin Firth and Christian Bale … though we have to say that Copley, who recently played Captain H.M. 'Howling Mad' Murdock in the big-screen take on "The A-Team," is our favorite choice so far. Score!

"Oldboy," a remake of the 2003 Korean thriller directed by Park Chan-wook, tells the story of a kidnapped businessman (Josh Brolin) who is unexpectedly released by his captors after 15 years of imprisonment, only to find his revenge mission sabotaged by further manipulation and torture. The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen as the caseworker charged with assisting Brolin in his search to discover the truth about his kidnappers and his own past.

Now that the three leads have been cast, "Oldboy" can finally commence with production in the fall. In the meantime, Spike Lee's "Red Hook Summer" will hit theaters on Aug. 10, and Sharlto Copley will next be seen in Neill Blomkamp's "Elysium," opening March 1, 2013.
