We've been wondering what Scarlett Johansson's next move would be, now that she's eaten the Hollywood box office alive as Black Widow in "The Avengers." Now, here it is: She's heading back for the neon lights on Broadway.
Johansson will star as Maggie the Cat in the spring 2013 Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," according to The New York Times. Meow!
Johansson's no stranger to the stage — she won a Tony Award in 2010 for her Broadway debut in "A View From the Bridge," after all — and she's also familiar with one of the beaus up for the male lead Brick in the play, Jeremy Renner. There's some speculation that "Star Trek" star Chris Pine might be the frontrunner for that gig, but we sure would love to see Black Widow and Hawkeye pair up again.
"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" tells the story of a southern couple who have to face some very personal tragedies alongside the husband's family when they gather to celebrate his wealthy father.
Perhaps ScarJo's hoping for Tony number two? In previous performances of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, several women have been nominated for Tony Awards for their portrayal of Maggie the Cat, including Kathleen Turner, Bel Geddes and Elizabeth Ashley.
