According to multiple reports, including Fox News and NBC, "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn has died in a car accident.
Based on comments made by April Margera, mother of Dunn's "Jackass" co-star Bam Margera, it appears that Dunn and a passenger were both killed in car accident when his car hit a tree in West Goshen, Pennsylvania sometime between 2:30 and 3 a.m. this morning. The identity of the second victim is still unclear, though Dunn had posted a photo of himself out with friendsĀ two hours before his death.
Dunn was just 34 years old.
Dunn rose to fame as part of the "Jackass" crew on MTV, with perhaps his most famous stunt coming in 2002's "Jackass: The Movie" courtesy of a toy car and a great deal of chutzpah. He went on to appear in both sequels and appeared in several projects with Margera, including "Bam's World Domination" on SpikeTV. Just last week, Dunn also began co-hosting the G4 series "Proving Ground" alongside Jessica Chobot.
His friend and colleague, Johnny Knoxville tweeted, "Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie. RIP Ryan , I love you buddy."
Van Toffler, President of MTV Networks Music/Films Group, issued the following statement:
"We are devastated by the tragic loss of Ryan Dunn - a beloved member of the MTV family for more than a decade. He made us all laugh and had the tireless enthusiastic approach to life of your favorite middle school friend. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Ryan's family and friends. The 'Jackass' brotherhood will never be the same."
Just how Dunn's death may affect upcoming "Jackass" productions, as well as the filming of the Paramount comedy "Mustache Riders," which was set to star Dunn opposite Margera and Knoxville, remains to be seen.
