Real-Life WW2 Fighter Pilots Ace These 6 'Red Tails' Clips

Red Tails
Lucasfilm

Think you've had enough World War II movies? You haven't seen one from the viewpoint of The Tuskegee Airmen, the real-life heroes in "Red Tails." These daring young African American men became the first all-black fighter pilot unit in the United States Air Force, and proved their worth by being some of the best damn flying aces there were.

George Lucas funded this $100-million blockbuster out of his own pocket (he's rich, you know) as a tribute to these trailblazing men, and the film is a nonstop thrill ride.

1. Keep your eyes peeled for the jerries. Where's the Rogue Squadron when you need it?

2. Change up the strategy. Did we mention how rich George Lucas is?

3. Let Us Fly. Terrence Howard tries to make a passionate plea without yelling, "You can't handle the truth!"

4. They refer to this as "Operation Shingle," presumably because "Operation Defeat Nazis and Racism" was too unwieldy.

5. Taking the Train. Lightning likes to meet his challenges head-on.

6. "You're Fighter Pilots." It's lucky the boys got this speech, otherwise they might have mistakenly thought they were part of "Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers."
