'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' Scares Off Yet Another Director

Is "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" cursed in real life? Sure seems that way, as yet another director has walked away from the project.

Craig Gillespie, the man behind hits like "Lars and the Real Girl" and "Fright Night," has just become the third—that's right, third—director to wash his hands of this screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel, which (in case you can't tell from the title) mixes the 1813 Jane Austen classic with a legion of bloodthirsty zombies.

Which is a pretty cool idea, if you ask us. (So far, no one has.)

Gillespie joined the flick after Mike White left. White had come on to replace David O. Russell, who was originally slated to direct after penning the script, Deadline reports. Though the split was "amicable" (whatever that means), the director and other powers-that-be couldn't reach an agreement on major issues like, uh, who is going to star in it. So it looks like it may be a while before we get to see Elizabeth Bennet tackle the challenges of romance alongside the undead. Sigh.
