Paul Wesley, best known for his portrayal of the 162-year-old vampire Stefan Salvatore on "Vampire Diaries," is about to sink his teeth into something new.

Word around Tinseltwon is that the chiseled heartthrob is being eyed for the role of Count Paris in Carlo Carlei's adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet."

Wesley would be pitted against British thesp Douglas Booth (Romeo) to win the heart of Juliet, played by current "it" girl Hailee Steinfeld. He would join an A-list cast that also includes Holly Hunter as Juliet's nurse, Ed Westwick as the (ill-fated) Tybalt and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Benvolio.

According to Variety, scribe Julian Fellowes of "The Tourist" and "The Young Victoria" fame, penned the script, and production is slated to start as early as September.

While it's true that this Shakespeare classic has been retold time and time again, it has never been done with two of the world's hottest vampires in the mix—and something tells us that the Westwick-Wesley combination is going to tug at those teenage heartstrings more than ever before.
