Take the coolest thing you could ever imagine happening in the history of nerdery and multiply it by a hundred. No, make that a thousand ... Done? Good. Whatever you just came up with there, it's not even half as awesome as this, so brace yourselves.
No, we're not talking about some gnarly new "X-Men: Days of Future Past" plot detail — although that could be an interesting direction for the franchise — this'll be an actual real-life wedding ceremony.
Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show this weekend, Sir Ian McKellen revealed that he'll be serving as an officiant for Patrick Stewart's upcoming wedding ceremony with thirty-five-year-old songstress Sunny Ozell.
"I'm going to marry Patrick," he said. "How else do you put that? I’m going to officiate, yes, at his wedding." Prodded for more details on how that is possible, McKellen said, "I don't know ... I read out the words and Sunny and Patrick will then be married. 'I declare you man and wife.'"
Evidently, it's not his first vow-wrangling rodeo, either.
Said McKellen, "I've done it before with two guys, municipal partnership. I was crying my eyes out."
No matter what fandom knife — Tolkien, "Star Trek" and "X-Men" fans are all served between the two actors — you're using to slice this wedding cake, it's a tasty, tasty dish.
Doubtlessly the happy occasion will take place long before the two resume their opposing quests for worldly mutant infiltration when "Days of Future Past" lands in theaters next summer.
What a fascinating little world Hollywood can be.
