"There's something happening here. What it is ain't exactly clear…"
Those famous lyrics from Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" defined the protest movements of the '60s and '70s, but it's never felt more apt than if applied to the handful of Ryan Gosling fans who took to picketing People magazine yesterday.
Why are they so miffed? Because the publication chose to name Bradley Cooper as "Sexiest Man Alive" over runner-up Gosling. Because of this grave error, these folks have swapped "V For Vendetta" masks for Ryan's handsome mug, and instead of anti-1% placards they're brandishing slogans the likes of, "Ryan Gosling is proof there's a God and SHE is a woman."
The whole thing was masterminded by Buzzfeed editor Matt Stopera, but whether those protesters are splintered off from or a parody of the current Occupy Wall Street movement sweeping the nation and drawing attention to the dire wealth disparity here, these Goslingites seem nothing less than adamant about their cause.
"It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound, everybody look what's going down…"
