The toy boy of "Artificial Intelligence: AI" is now the boy toy of "Sassy Pants."
Sundance audiences get to see Haley Joel Osment as they've never seen before as the coming-of-age indie comedy makes its debut at the Park City festival this month. The "Sixth Sense" star is definitely all grown up -- and works the jean shorts as a much older man's lover.
It's certainly a far cry from the fantasy-based characters Osment was playing over a decade ago, and he looks like he might be the best thing about the rather precious-looking "Sassy Pants," which chronicles the trials and tribulations of a recent high school graduate who has to contend with her meddling mother and gay father. It looks a bit like "Terri," only with a pretty girl and not as funny or insightful.
Regardless of how "Sassy Pants" actually turns out, it's great to see Haley Joel Osment in a movie again. Maybe a quirky Sundance comedy is the first step toward a major comeback for the kid who could see dead people?
