Dare to Time Travel in 'Safety Not Guaranteed' Trailer

Safety Not Guaranteed
FilmDistrict

WANTED: Someone to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before.

So goes the mysterious newspaper ad that starts the events of the upcoming comedy, "Safety Not Guaranteed." Personally, "Must bring your own weapons" is a bit of a red flag for us, as we never take ours out of the house, but the "getting paid" part kind of trumps that.

"Safety Not Guaranteed" stars Mark Duplass as the quickie mart employee who put out the ad and mumblecore queen Aubrey Plaza (acting a bit more lively than usual) as the magazine intern assigned to take the gig. The film was the subject of heavy bidding at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, with FilmDistrict emerging as the winner.

Hollywood might be on to something. With this and the upcoming "Seeking a Friend For the End of the World," it looks like "sci-fi romantic comedy" is the hot new sub-genre. If, indeed, they actually go time traveling in this.

Check out the trailer below, or watch it in HD at iTunes Movie Trailers. "Safety Not Guaranteed" hits theaters on June 8, going head-to-head with a sci-fi non-romantic non-comedy, "Prometheus."
