For the past decade, Milla Jovovich has been waging a one woman war against mutant-zombie hordes as Alice, the bio-engineered killer with half a dress and no memory. But thanks to the new trailer for "Resident Evil: Retribution," we now know that when the film hits theaters on September 14, Alice will have a new ally in her fight to save the future: Sony.
The coming apocalypse? Don't worry, Sony has an app for that.
Of course, product placement has long been a Hollywood staple, but rarely if ever has there been a trailer that so seamlessly (and by seamlessly we mean blatantly) catered to the sponsorship side of things.
On the plus side, the clip does indicate that not only is Jovovich back, it appears we'll finally be getting some insight into her mysterious character's past, along with the origin of how the world of "Resident Evil" got just so... evil... to begin with.
So check it out, but before you watch the clip from Yahoo! Movies, remember: if you feel like you're watching a commercial for Sony, don't worry, because the actual trailer part of the trailer does eventually begin -- around the :33 second mark. And hey, the commercial does at least feature a voiceover from Patrick Stewart.
