How do you make an animated cat named Puss who wears heeled boots (yes, heeled) seem tough?
If you're Dreamworks, it's easy.
First, have the ever-smoldering Antonio Banderas lend his Spanish accent to the cat.
Next, give him a femme fatale partner in crime — or, more specifically, the slinky Kitty Softpaws, voiced by none other than Salma Hayek. Make sure she's sassy. Maybe even give her some lines dogging Puss's footwear like, "That's a lot of heel for a guy. Don't you think?"
And, of course, make sure Puss has a hero-worthy adventure ahead. In this case, when murderous outlaws discover a dangerous power, it's up to Puss to protect the innocent… and save the world.
Yep. That pretty much qualifies.
Thus begins the trailer, just posted courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, for "Puss in Boots," that introduces us to the cat with "nine lives, one destiny" who protects the innocent, loves milk, and — from the two minutes we've seen of him so far — is basically guaranteed to win our hearts just like he did in the "Shrek" movies.
"Puss in Boots" sweeps into theaters Nov. 4, which means this is one cat with no time to bat around a ball of yarn.
