WARNING: MONSTER-SIZED SPOILERS (AND MONSTERS, TOO) ALL UP IN THIS TRAILER
When the first trailer for "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" premiered in April, fans were a little puzzled. Where were the...ahem, monsters? In a title with the phrase "sea of monsters" in it, a vicious mammoth bull and a few shark fins didn't seem to make the cut.
However, monsters are abundant in the latest "Percy Jackson" trailer, hyping the sequel to the 2010 flick "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." In the new film, Percy (Logan Lerman) and his friends are just off the heels of saving Zeus' lightning bolt, but they don't have time to celebrate. When Camp Half-Blood is destroyed by Kronos, the King of the Titans, it is up to Percy and his team of bad-ass demigods to take care of business. They've got to retrieve the Golden Fleece (a very fancy coat, perhaps?) to do the job, and a trip to the Sea of Monsters is the only possible route (looks like Nüvi couldn't help these guys out!)
Check out the jam-packed international trailer, filled with all of the mystical creatures (including a sweet rainbow water dragon, a bear hybrid, a HUGE hairy-octopus-tarantula-WTF beast and those still-terrifying 50-foot shark fins) fans could ever want. We're particularly excited to see Clarisse La Rue (Leven Rambin) kick some monster derrière!
"Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" is set to journey into theaters August 7, 2013.
