We're not entirely sure what it means when a movie is "presented by" someone — did they find it at a garage sale? — but we do know that Jessica Chastain is awesome, so even though Guillermo del Toro is merely "presenting" the new horror film "Mama" instead of directing it, we've still got pretty high hopes.
And if the new trailer is any indication, those hopes are about to be realized even as Chastain's hopes are being dashed by a malevolent spirit.
Produced by del Toro (so that's what "presented by" means! Why didn't they just say that?), "Mama" stars the Oscar-nominated Chastain as a lady who, along with her husband ("Game of Thrones" hunk Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), gains custody of her two young nieces. There's just one problem: The kids have been living in the wilderness for five years after their parents disappeared mysteriously.
And unfortunately, it doesn't appear they've been raised by wolves, but rather by the evil spirit of their dead mother. Or at least that's the impression you get from the creepy tykes, who spend most of the trailer either whispering "mama" over and over again or eating each other's hair.
Opening on Jan. 13, here's the new trailer for "Mama," courtesy of indieWire and presented, of course, by Gulliermo del Toro:
