Blockbuster season is upon us and with the theater packed to the gills with dystopian futures, rampaging supervillains and alien invaders, it can be pretty hard for smaller films to stand out. But there's one thing that might just do the trick: Making a romcom about the invention of the vibrator.
And we've got a brand new trailer proving that the "Hysteria" has already begun.
Here's the deal: Opening on May 18, "Hysteria" stars Hugh Dancy as real life 19th century doctor Joseph Mortimer Granville, a guy who, hoping to help out his many female patients diagnosed with "hysteria," invents the electric vibrator. Maggie Gyllenhaal, meanwhile, plays the high spirited Victorian lady who helps inspire Granville's new methods.
