It's a fact of modern existence: The more you do online, the more you unwittingly reveal the details of your life to pretty much anybody who really wants to know. Everything you do leaves a digital trail and there's no telling who might be watching.
And just wait until they see you checking out the new trailer for the upcoming indie drama "Disconnect."
An ensemble piece that weaves together three vaguely interconnected storylines (think "Traffic," only with more internet and less drugs), "Disconnect" takes a look at how what we do online can and sometimes does come back to haunt us. Jason Bateman plays the father of a bullied teen who gets Catfished online, Manti T'eo style, while Alexander Skarsgard and Paula Patton play a couple whose secret online lives end up nearly destroying their relationship.
Directed by "Murderball" auteur Henry Alex Rubin, "Disconnect" has been getting rave reviews on the festival circuit. It doesn't hit select theaters until April 13, but in the meantime, here's a sneak peek, courtesy of Apple Trailers.
Check it out, and let your own internet stalker know that you have good taste in movies.
