We always knew poker was a fool's game.
Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt) is a professional enforcer who's called in to investigate just what in the hell some damn fools thought they were doing when they robbed a card game owned by the Mafia in "Killing Them Softly."
Director Andrew Dominik reunites with the star of his excellent "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" for this old-school revenge thriller that looks like it's going to pack one heck of a punch — quite the polar opposite from the contemplative, dream-like "James."
The supporting cast is filled with dyed-in-the-wool veterans: Sam Shepard (also of "Jesse James"), James Gandolfini (who stole the show from Pitt in "The Mexican"), Richard Jenkins (always a class act) and Ray Liotta. But it's some of the young blood that makes quite the impression in the trailer — particularly Scott McNairy, star of Gareth Edwards' excellent "Monsters," who plays one of the none-too-bright heist-pullers, Frankie.
