You'll forget all about Donnie Darko and his invisible rabbit friend when you check out this trailer for Jake Gyllenhaal's new movie "End of Watch." Sporting a bald dome and a buff look, Gyllenhaal is just another cop on a tough beat in Los Angeles with his best friend and partner, played by Michael Pena.
Officers Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and Zavala (Pena) are having a normal day just looking for "dope, money, and guns" when they stumble onto a huge amount of gold and jewelry, including what looks like a gold-plated machine gun. Whaaaat?!
Unfortunately, their next discovery lands them some rather unwanted attention from a high-powered drug cartel.
Sounds like whatever "End of Watch" has in store for Taylor and Zavala is going to be pretty intense. There's lots of gun fights, scary-looking tough guys, and ominous lines like, "I'd lay down my life for you" and "You're my brother. If anything happened to you, I'd take care of your kids."
Being that "End of Watch" is written and directed by the guy who wrote the dark cop drama "Training Day," you can rest assured things are going to get gnarly. Zavala is a new dad, and Taylor seems pretty keen on having a little baby with his new wife Janet (Anna Kendricks) as well. Hey, is that a newborn she's holding? Heartstrings, get ready to be tugged.
