Ah, remember the days when Tony Stark was a free-wheeling, wisecracking, devil-may-care superhero? Zipping around in his armor, righting wrongs and making the world safe for snark?
Well, those days apparently ended when he got sucked into a dimensional vortex at the end of "The Avengers," because the first trailer for "Iron Man 3" is here and all of that fun has been replaced by a newfound sense of dread, angst and darkness.
And the first on-screen appearance of Iron Man's archenemy The Mandarin certainly isn't helping Tony's mood any either.
Set to arrive in theaters on May 3, "Iron Man 3" picks up where "The Avengers" left off, with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr., of course) suffering nightmares and recriminations from the epic battle over New York City. Unfortunately for him, international terrorist The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) isn't above kicking someone when they're down, leading to some of the darkest moments yet in the "Iron Man" series.
