Henry Cavill Is a God of War in New 'Immortals' Trailer

After the shocking success of "300" and the 3D, CGI excesses of "Clash of the Titans," you wouldn't think there was anything new for Hollywood to do in the swords and sandals genre. But the new trailer for the upcoming mythologically inspired action epic "Immortals" has just hit the internet and it has something neither of those films ever had:

Amazing hats.

Oh, and a few other things, such as the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill, fighting alongside and against an excellent supporting cast that includes Freida Pinto, Mickey Rourke, Kellan Lutz and John Hurt, all in a world that makes "God of War" look like "Super Mario Brothers." Interested yet?

The 4-1-1: "Immortals," which was produced by the crew that did "300," comes straight out of the mind of Tarsem Singh ("The Cell") and offers up a fantasy-tinged re-working of the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Hey, any time you have a minotaur, you're doing something right and in this case, Singh ups the ante by giving Theseus (that's Cavill, y'all) a glowy magic bow that would have the Amazon from "Diablo II" crapping herself.

Okay, so you don't actually need to understand these video game references to dig the "Immortals" trailer, but if you're a hardcore console jockey, you'll probably dig it the most, because this is just like watching your buddy play the newest PS3 epic, only with better graphics.

If that's your kind of gig, then check out the new clip, courtesy of Apple Trailers:
