Last week's unofficial red band trailer for the Americanized "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was shrouded in as much mystery as most of the plots in the book. Was it a leak from overseas? Was it a spiffy move on the part of the studio? Was it just some dude in Europe who thought the trailer was awesome?
So many questions. So few answers.
Through all the hullabaloo, one thing was clear: the trailer kicked some serious butt. Now a green band (a.k.a. significantly less blood and side boob) trailer has followed in the first spot's footsteps and continues to the movies campaign to be the most badass thing ever.
"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is the first installment of the highly successful Millennium Trilogy, written by Swedish author Stieg Larsson and read by every person who went to the beach in 2010. The popularity of the series gives "Dragon Tattoo" a clear runway to becoming a genuine hit and both trailers embrace the public consciousness surrounding the title. They don't need to explain what the movie's about, they just need to make stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara look badasses.
Well, success. Anti-establishment never looked so cool.
