The First 'Frankenweenie' Trailer Is Aliiiiiiive

Disney

Quick history lesson: Way back in the day (i.e. the '80s), a young Tim Burton put together his first big project for his employers at Disney, an animated short called "Frankenweenie" about a boy who brings his dead dog back to life. The result? He was immediately fired.

Oh, how times have changed.

Case in point: Burton has now gotten so popular, especially with Disney (the billion dollars he made with "Alice in Wonderland" helped), that the studio has given him free reign to resurrect "Frankenweenie" as a feature length epic -- and we've got the first trailer right here.

So what happens when you take traditional stop motion animation, marry it with modern CGI techniques, and then use it to tell a story that's halfway between "Benji" and "The Bride of Frankenstein?" You get a project that's 100% Tim Burton, right down to being filmed entirely in black and white.
