You know those smarmy pitchmen who shill on infomercials and late-night TV ads for crappy products that nobody on Earth would ever actually need? Well, here's a quick mental exercise for you: If you were going to cast a Hollywood star as one of those pitch men, who would you pick?
Chances are you went with Kevin Spacey, who has perfected the art of being oily and unctuous on screen. Which is why the new trailer for "Father of Invention" seems so right -- or at least inevitable -- as Spacey steps into the role of a former Billy Mays wannabe looking to rebuild his life after one of his products goes terribly wrong.
"Father of Invention" also has a couple other things going for it, namely the rest of the cast: Heather Graham, Virginia Madsen and Camilla Belle portray the women in his life, while none other than Johnny Knoxville himself appears as Spacey's new boss (can you imagine Knoxville as your boss? The mind reels).
And while "Father of Invention" doesn't look as though it's going to reinvent the comedy wheel, the idea of Spacey as a pitch man is so pitch perfect that it has to be at least somewhat entertaining.
But wait! Before you pick up that phone, there's more! Not only have the folks behind "Father of Invention" put out a new trailer, they've also released the official poster as well as a slew of new still photos! Now how much would you pay?!
Actually, you can see them all for free right now, thanks to our friends over at Collider. And that's a deal you won't see anywhere on television.
