Once upon a time, long ago, there was a quirky indie filmmaker named Whit Stillman who wrote and directed Oscar nominated cult classics like "Metropolitan" and "The Last Days of Disco." Then he vanished on the face of the Earth, with nary a hide nor hair from him in over a decade.
Well, now he's suddenly back — and the new trailer his film "Damsels in Distress" could just rescue you.
Or at least, that's the aim of the characters within this dryly post-ironic hipster comedy. Greta Gerwig plays the leader of a group of motivated prep school ladies who form a club dedicated to saving dopey boys from their own low potential. Needless to say, things don't necessarily go as planned, except the part where Stillman planned to fill the movie with deadpan, ultra-stylized dialogue.
So does the film mark Stillman's triumphant return? Or should he be locked back up in the tower for the next decade? Check out the trailer, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies and see for yourself.
