Well, here's another movie that makes a strong case for being stalked and ravaged by a vampire as the sweetest way to go possible.
"Interview with the Vampire" director Neil Jordan returns for another bloodsucking tale of gorgeous creatures of the night with "Byzantium," a film that trumps its awkward title with a a lot of delectable undead eye candy.
Gemma Arterton (currently playing other supernatural games in "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters") and Saoirse Ronan (whom we sometimes get mixed up with Mia Wasikowska) play a mother/daughter vampire duo who find themselves at a remote seaside town, where their involvement with a handsome stranger (Caleb Landry Jones) threatens to tear apart their already delicate existence. Lots of passionate European things ensue, often involving a lot of blood.
The film debuted to so-so reviews last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, with the stunning visuals (not the least of which are the two leading ladies) being praised much more than the rather incoherent story. Hey, we didn't know what was going on half the time during "Interview with the Vampire," either.
Check out the international trailer below. IFC Films will release "Byzantium" later this year.
