Before you watch this new trailer, you should know right up front that despite the title, "Back to 1942" is not a time travel adventure and Marty McFly is nowhere to be seen. So that's a bit depressing.
But not nearly as depressing as the actual subject matter, which finds Adrien Brody and Tim Robbins trying to deal with famine, warfare and the depths of human suffering during the height of World War II.
The feel good movie of the year this ain't.Here's the story: Set in the heart of China during the depths of World War II, "Back to 1942" stars Brody as an American journalist trying to make sense of both a devastating famine and the Japanese invasion. Along with Robbins' crusading priest, he comes to believe that maybe the two are more closely linked than it first seems.
Directed by Chinese superstar Feng Xiaogang, "Back to 1942" doesn't yet have a domestic release date, but with performances like these, chance are it will be here sooner rather than later.
