New Directors in the Game For 'Catching Fire'

The only thing Hollywood loves that a sure-thing is, well, another sure thing. Which is why Tinseltown is all a twitter as a few more names get thrown into the hat for possible directors of "The Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire."

In addition to David Cronenberg, Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (who were first mentioned as candidates last week), two more A-list contenders have been added: "Moneyball" helmer Bennet Miller and "I Am Legend" director Francis Lawrence.

Now, while "Moneyball" marched to the Oscars with a whopping six nominations, it's not exactly an action flick. It was mostly Jonah Hill sitting around being quippy (which was great; don't get us wrong)—but it's not an obvious transition into the high-powered slaughter of Suzanne Collins' second franchise installment.

Lawrence, on the other hand, seems to fit in nicely. With his background in music videos, action flicks and heartfelt, dramatic moments (he directed "Water for Elephants" back in 2010), he seems well equipped to harness the second games.

Though there's no official word yet on who's in the lead, Indie Wire reports that a decision will almost certainly come soon, as the powers-that-be are aiming to start filming this August to hit the film's November 22, 2013 release.

So, Jennifer, Liam, Josh, if you're reading this (which, obviously, you are) enjoy that summer break while you can, because it looks like you'll be back to the grindstone come fall.
