Mia Wasikowska Preps to Lead New Version of 'Oldboy'

Mia Wasikowska is no longer in Wonderland. Then again, maybe she is. The twenty-two year-old starlet's dance card has been packed ever since her breakout role in the Oscar-winning dramedy "The Kids Are All Right," and it seems she's just landed yet another prized role.

Word on the streets of Tinseltown is that the flaxen-haired beauty has been offered the female lead of Spike Lee's remake of "Oldboy." The only catch? She may have to bail out of Park Chan-Wook's English language film debut, "Stoker," to make room for this Lee project. Oh, and Chan-Wook just happens to be the director of the original "Oldboy." (Talk about a weird triangle.)

If she accepts the role of Marie, Wasikowska will star opposite Josh Brolin, who plays a man imprisoned with no explanation for years and who sets out to take revenge on his captor when he is released. Can't say we blame him.

The captor's role had previously been offered to Colin Firth, but is currently being mulled over by Clive Owen, Twitch Film reports.

We hope this casting works out, because though it would mark a darker role for Wasikowska, it promises to be a bright spot on the thriller scene for the rest of us.
