What? David Wooderson from "Dazed and Confused" is getting married?
We're in for a much mellower universe now that Matthew McConaughey is settling down, as the "Lincoln Lawyer" star recently proposed to his girlfriend of five years, Brazilian model Camila Alves, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
McConaughey proposed to Alves on Christmas Day and posted the news to Twitter with a link to a photo of the couple kissing in front of a Christmas tree. "Just asked Camila to marry me," McConaughey wrote. "Merry Christmas."
That's just about the most adorable (and romantic) thing we've heard about all year. Well done, sir!
Matthew McConaughey had always been a bit coy and elusive when it came to the subject of marriage, but he's definitely been giving signs that he's totally committed to his relationship with Alves over the past few years. The couple first started dating in 2006 and have two children together: Levi, 3, and Vida, 1.
(Of course Matthew McConaughey has a kid named "Levi.")
McConaughey will be seen in several films in 2012, including "The Paperboy," "Killer Joe" and Steven Soderbergh's male stripper yarn, "Magic Mike." He also recently wrapped "Mud" and will be appearing in the Iraq War action film, "Thunder Run."
