Young Clark Kent Says 'Man Of Steel' Will Be Dark as 'Knight'

Warner Bros.

The much-anticipated Zack Snyder/Christopher Nolan team-up for 2013's Superman blockbuster "Man of Steel" is going to take a page or two from the latter's recent Batman films. That is, if Superboy has anything to say about it.

Kid actor Dylan Sprayberry ("Old Dogs," "Glee") plays a 13-year-old Clark Kent in the Snyder-directed movie, and, when he spoke to ClevverTV, he revealed a taste of what we can expect besides billowing red capes and massive pecs.

"I just finished shooting 'Man of Steel,'" said Sprayberry. "That was in Canada and Chicago. I filmed that all last year. When Zack [Snyder] and I were talking about it the first time, he was saying how Superman, they want to give it a more edgy feel like 'The Dark Knight' but also make it more realistic and emotional so it’s not just the all-American superhero that saves everyone. He has dilemmas and love and struggles throughout the whole movie, especially when he's a kid."

Sounds like Henry Cavill's portrayal of Supes is gonna be frequently sad and blue. Does that mean he'll do Blue Steel for us? (Thank you, Zoolander.)

As downbeat as things might be for the comic book hero, Strayberry had a grand old time hanging out in Smallville for the picture.

"It was really great," Strayberry exclaimed. "I didn’t even really notice how big it was until I finished shooting. It was so overwhelming that it was crazy, I was like 'I can’t believe I just did all that.' In the moment, I was really focused on the work and the acting."
