The Gyllenhaal-Sarsgaard brood just got bigger. US Weekly confirms that on April 19, Maggie Gyllenhaal and hubby Peter Sarsgaard welcomed their second baby girl, Gloria Ray. In addition to her proud parents, little Gloria joins older sister Ramona, now 5.
Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard have been a couple since 2002 and made it official back in 2009. Maggie waited to announce this pregnancy until she was well into her third trimester and "throwing up in the bathroom" at film festivals she was attending. (At that point, she figured the cat was pretty much out of the bag.)
And how does her husband feel about the new member of the family? Beyond being elated (which, of course, he is), he expressed concerns about how to prepare Ramona for sisterhood. "I've seen kids with siblings," he said. "They generally go for about five minutes, 'Oh, cool! Anyway, what are we going to do now? Can we return it?'" He added, "I think it gets boring quickly, at first, and it takes a while for them to bond."
No word yet on whether Ramona is having any trouble adjusting, but we're optimistic she's going to embrace her new role as big sister. Hey, it could happen. Best wishes to the happy family!
