"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" is finally getting its awards season due.

Of course, leave it to the London Film Critics' Circle to show some love to the British spy thriller. The film scored six nominations, including Film of the Year and Actor of the Year for Gary Oldman.

"Drive" was also a strong contender, matching "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" with six nominations overall as well as nods for Film of the Year and Actor of the Year for Ryan Gosling, while "A Separation" and "We Need to Talk About Kevin" earned five nominations each.

Founded in 1926, the London Film Critics' Circle has been presenting awards annually since 1980. In addition to recognizing cinematic excellence in general, the London Film Critics' Circle also gives out awards for the best in British film as well; this helps explain the nomination totals of films like "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," which earned British Film of the Year and British Actor of the year for Oldman in addition to their nominations in the general categories.

"We Need to Talk About Kevin" similarly benefited, with nods in both the British and general categories for Film of the Year and Actress of the Year for Tilda Swinton, as did "Shame" and it's top actress Carey Mulligan.

French award season favorite "The Artist" also had a strong showing, with four nods including Film of the Year, Director of the Year (Michel Hazanavicius) and Actor of the Year (Jean Dujardin). And in a surprise, Glenn Close was snubbed for her role in "Albert Nobbs" despite playing a British lady.
