Is Lionsgate Already Planning a 'Twilight' Reboot?! Thankfully ... No

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1
Summit

Update: Fear not, Twi-Hards. Lionsgate has officially rained on this rumor's parade. A rep for the studio told Deadline, "We are not remaking 'Twilight.' We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change."

--------------------------------

Hey guys, remember the good old days when we used to make fun of studios like Marvel and Sony for rebooting franchises such as "The  Incredible Hulk" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" just five short years after the last version ended?

Well, oh, how naive we were, because get a load of this static: According to Bloody Disgusting, Lionsgate is already working on a "Twilight" reboot even though the original series hasn't even finished yet.

What's next, a series that reboots itself before it actually begins?

Now, before you begin burning Lionsgate in effigy or freaking out over the possible diminished value in that RPattz fansite url you've been shopping for the past year, it should be said right up front that so far, this is just a rumor. Not only has Lionsgate not acknowledged that they are working on a reboot, Bloody Disgusting themselves pre-denied the whole thing on Lionsgate's behalf right in the initial story. So nothing is certain yet.

But Bloody Disgusting swears on a stack of Stephenie Meyer novels that Lionsgate is already discussing whether or not to remake the series; it's one of the options on the table to milk more greenbacks from their number one cash cow. And as the other options also include things like a spinoff film featuring other characters in the "Twilight" universe — or even a direct sequel starring Bella and company — it's not exactly set in stone that the series will be rebooted. Frankly, it sounds as though Lionsgate is just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.

Still... a "Twilight" reboot? Really? Here's hoping that someone reboots "Back to the Future" first, because at the rate Hollywood is going, pretty soon we're going to need a time machine just to visit the theater.
