Kristen Stewart at Cannes: 'On the Road,' Losing Her Top and More

Kristen Stewart has been all over the place lately, what with her saucy comradery with "Snow White and the Hunstman" costar Charlize Theron and now rocking the Croisette for "On the Road." Not that we're complaining!

Stewart was enthusiastic about her role as Marylou in Jack Kerouac's wild and wooly Beat classic while speaking to Cannes journalists. There was also a bit of buzz about several scenes where she is "topless and close to fully naked in several scenes," according to The Wrap.

"I love pushing, I love scaring myself. I think to watch genuine experience on screen is just so much more interesting," she said, adding, "The reason I wanted to do the job is because, you know, you read something, you're provoked on some level and then it's just taking that further and being able to live it and I always want to get as close to the experience as I possibly can … As long as you're always being really honest, there's nothing ever to be ashamed of."

The movie has gotten some good reviews, too.

The Hollywood Reporter calls it "a beautiful and respectful adaptation of Jack Kerouac's landmark novel that intermittently leaves the ground to take flight." Meanwhile, Drew McWeeny writes that "it's good work from [Stewart], further indication that as soon as she puts the 'Twilight' series in her rearview mirror, she's got a promising career ahead of her."

Writer Jeff Wells enthused, "It's so full of life and serene and mirthful in so many different ways. I was stirred and delighted and never less than fully engrossed as I watched it, and it's great to finally run into a film that really hits it, and then hits it again and again."

Although some international reviews were mixed, we're looking forward to seeing Kristen Stewart in this freewheelin' flick. Watch the trailer here and let us know what you think.
