Ha! We always knew Tinkerbell could talk.

Okay, we might be mixing up the various mythologies here. Yes, there have been incarnations of J.M. Barrie's passionate (sometimes too passionate) fairy that communicated in more than just bells and whistles.

And we're assuming that's the angle Syfy will be taking on the character as they prepare their "Neverland" miniseries, seeing as that they probably just shelled out a lot of money to have Keira Knightley voice the character, according to Deadline.

Keira will be providing the voice of Tinkerbell in the four-hour miniseries that serves as a prequel to "Peter Pan." The "Pirates of the Caribbean" beauty will be joining Rhys Ifans, Anna Friel, Bob Hoskins, Charles Dance, Raoul Trujillo and Charlie Rowe on the project.

"Neverland," written and directed by Nick Willing, centers on Peter (Rowe) who, along with his pals of young pickpockets, have been rounded up by their mentor Jimmy Hook (Ifans) to snatch a magical orb that transports them to another world -- Neverland.

"Neverland" is one of seemingly a few "Peter Pan" projects lurking around out there, including "Peter Pan Begins," in which Channing Tatum is allegedly involved in one way or another.

Keira will record her take on the notoriously, uh, emotional fairy this spring. "Neverland" will air on Syfy in December.
