Sometimes you've just gotta take the bull by the horns. And with Robert Pattinson's next movie, "Cosmopolis," hitting select theaters this week, the actor had no choice but to do some press. And by press, we do mean interviews jam-packed with questions about Kristen Stewart and her recent, ahem, transgressions.
One of Pattinson's first stops was "The Daily Show," where Jon Stewart gave it the ol' college try to coax something out of the heartthrob. As you can see in the clip below pretty much the second R.Pattz hit the chair, Stewart leaned in and asked, "What have you been up to?"
For his part, Pattinson did his best to deflect with some good old-fashioned humor, but Stewart pressed on.
"OK, let's just do this," he quipped as he whipped out two pints of Ben & Jerry's — which turned out to be kind of melted. "Now we're just a couple of gals talking," Stewart mused as they slurped their ice-cream. "All right. Tell me everything." Pattinson played along… sort of.
The actor finally confessed, "My biggest problem in my life is that I'm cheap. I didn't hire a publicist. Every awkward interview, normally actors get these things scripted… I'm going to hire a publicist."
An unwavering Stewart pushed onward, however. "Listen, the last time I had a bad breakup, Ben and Jerry got me through some of the tougher times. So I thought you and I could bond over this and talk about, 'Boy, you are better off, kick her to the curb. Whatevah!'"
As the audience cheered, Pattinson dug in to the ice cream and cracked a genuine laugh. And the world made sense again.
