Shut the Front Door! 'Mad Men''s Jon Hamm as Superman?

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's… SuperHamm?

On "Mad Men," he's the reason most damsels are in distress, but now Jon Hamm might finally become a hero – and a blue tights-wearing one at that.

According to ThinkMcFlyThink.com, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are seriously considering Hamm for the upcoming Superman reboot, planned for 2012, though they haven't yet met with the actor and no deal is in place.

While casting a 39-year-old as the Man of Steel may sound a bit unlikely, Hamm does seem perfect for the part. Not only does he have Superman's black hair/blue eyes coloring and classic jawline, but his "Mad Men" wardrobe could seamlessly take him from the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce agency to the Daily Planet office.

And the role wouldn't exactly be a stretch for Hamm. Like Don Draper, who was born Dick Whitman, Superman harbors a secret identity – only he's got two: Krypton's Kal-El and Earth's Clark Kent. And while Supes battles the occasional villain in Metropolis, Don matches wits with brainiacs every day at the ad agency.

"Chuck" star Zachary Levi and "True Blood" hunk Joe Manganiello are reportedly among the other names being considered to play Superman, and they may very well have a good shot at sporting that famous S shield.

Asked by MTV if he would ever star in a comic book movie, Hamm replied, "I don't know. It's a tricky road to go down with some of those heroes, because they're not flawed. Superman is Superman — he's invincible, so where's the drama?"
