Though there have some, er, interesting casting decisions for the "I, Alex Cross" reboot (namely Tyler Perry taking over the central role from Morgan Freeman), one arguably awesome choice has been made.
According to Empire Online, John C McGinley, probably best known as the fast-talking medical guru Perry Cox on the now defunct hit comedy "Scrubs," has signed on to play Cross' boss.
But McGinley has serious drama chops too, being a veteran of "Point Break" as well as a slew of Oliver Stone features. Now he will take on the role of Richard Brookwell, a headstrong, ambitious Chief of Police whose attitude clashes with that of Cross’ quiet, empathetic method of cracking murders.
This installment of the franchise will flash back to a slightly younger main character in James Patterson's books, and finds Cross hot on the trail of a serial rapist he suspect murdered his pregnant wife years earlier.
In other words, our hero's super motivated to catch this guy.
Shooting started this week in Cleveland, which is playing the role off Washington, D.C. Only time will tell if McGinley or Perry will steal the show.
