UPDATE: Mixed martial artist and former WWE star Dave Bautista has signed on to play the role of Drax the Destroyer in "Guardians of the Galaxy," according to Heat Vision.

The part was reported in February to have gone to "Game of Thrones" alum and "Conan the Barbarian" star Jason Momoa, who was apparently only one of several contenders for the role, including Isaiah Mustafa and Patrick Wade.

Dave Bautista is best known for his time with World Wrestling Entertainment, during which he battled under the ring name "Batista." He recently appeared in "The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption" and RZA's "The Man with the Iron Fists" and will be seen later this year in "Riddick," opening Sept. 6.

Jason Momoa may not have hit box office paydirt playing "Conan the Barbarian" two years ago, but according to Latino Review, the former "Game of Thrones" star about to get his mad on once again, this time as Drax the Destroyer in the upcoming Marvel Studios sci-fi flick "Guardians of the Galaxy."

To which the entire world responds: Who the hell is Drax the Destroyer?

Of course, most movie fans also had the same reaction when Marvel announced they were doing a "Guardians of the Galaxy" film in the first place, so here's a quick refresher course: The Guardians of the Galaxy are a group of intergalactic freedom fighters who band together to protect the galaxy from all sorts of evil, but mainly the giant sinister purple noodge known as Thanos.

Thanos, of course, is the bad guy teased at the end of "The Avengers." And Drax the Destroyer is pretty much Thanos' number one enemy (note to comic fans: Please don't send us angry emails about Warlock, Captain Mar-Vell or Silver Surfer. Thanks.); a normal Earthman whose family was slain by Thanos, Drax was given immense superpowers by aliens who tasked him with hunting down Thanos and ending his threat once and for all.

All of which is the long way of saying that Momoa is playing a huge, incredibly strong, perpetually enraged guy with superpowers whose only purpose in life is to kick butt from one end of the galaxy to the other.

Eat your heart out, Conan.
