Although he will live on in our collective pop culture hearts, the Harry Potter story will soon be, effectively, over. Sigh.
With the pending July 15 release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2," many fans have resigned themselves to the harsh reality that, like a High School graduation or divorce proceeding, it's time to move on…
BUT WAIT, not so fast! Author and creator of all-things Potter, J.K. Rowling, has launched a cryptic new website simply titled "Pottermore," with an accompanying Twitter account. What lies beyond the author's signature, a whimsical logo, and a tantalizing "coming soon…" we cannot say, but we're fairly sure it will contain the secret to perpetual happiness and immortality.
Even more pertinent, though, is if this will be an actual Potter-centric site or simply a launching pad for the writer's other new non-Potter projects? We know she has a children's book in the works, and has also mentioned an all-encompassing encyclopedia covering the world of magic in her 7-book, 8-movie, theme-park phenomenon.
An editor at fansite HPANA named "Cheeser" has apparently been given a sneak-peak at what's in store, and calls the site "breathtaking in scope, detail and sheer beauty." Whatever she has percolating, the suspense is killing us.
Oh Jo Rowling (it's cool to call you "Jo," right?), why must you play with our hearts like some Quidditch Quaffle? First you say you're done with Harry Potter, then you turn around and start some website? Is it too much to ask for a multi-book series covering the life of each of Harry's three children, their children, and at least one shifty, dead-beat wizard uncle? C'mon!
