Lionsgate has revealed this new poster for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," featuring Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) all gussied up for their big victory tour — although neither of them looks particularly thrilled about their situation.
Poor Katniss is all too aware, of course, that she's upset the Capitol balance by tricking that sap gamemaker Seneca Crane into letting 'em both slide out of the
death trap arena unscathed, and Peeta's probably figured out that his life-long crush was mostly hamming it up for the cameras when she acted like he was her one and only. No wonder neither are cracking smiles, despite the sheer snazziness of their silvery frocks.
"Catching Fire," which hits theaters on Nov. 22, is finishing up some additional photography at the moment, with director Francis Lawrence at the helm.
The film follows its leading star-crossed District 12 lovers as they're paraded around Panem as co-victors of the 74th Annual Hunger Games ... which is all well and good until the 75th Annual Hunger Games, which just so happens to be a Quarter Quell in which the rules are especially effed up, comes along and brings its pool of former Games winners back into harm's way.
On a side note, there's just got to be an Oscar connection here. JLaw is pretty hot this awards season thanks to "Silver Linings Playbook" so it's probably no coincidence the shot's so formal and, well, silver given the timing of its release. Also, the big cornucopia-esque thingymajigger in the background sorta reminds us of those giant gold statues winners pose next to. Art imitating future life based on art to sell ... itself? That's new.
